  • Detailed Description of Proposal: 

 

This course is for students exploring the field of game design and game authoring.  The course will prepare student for immediate employment possibilities and /or post-secondary education in game design.  The course will include units on game design using Adobe Flash, and other game authoring tools.

Goals would include:
Learning and compiling complex programming code.
Create motion and gravity using programming code.
Building terrain, architecture, and three dimensional mapping of spaces.
Creating lighting and atmospheric effects
Creating dialogue and storylines.
Organizing the project into manageable programming pieces.
Demonstrating similarities and differences between different programming languages.

  • Needs Assessment: 

There is student interest in a game design course. 

Students enrolled in Game Design will reinforce and apply academic standards from several content areas.  Course meets addresses many Academic Standards for Science and Technology and teaches students complex logical thinking strategies.
